Google: Chrome OS better than Windows 7?
In response to this article, I would like to make a few points:
- Microsoft is not going anywhere
- This is Google first rodeo with an OS
- Every version of Windows since 2000 has been worse
With that being said, let’s be realistic. Microsoft will fail at the same time Walmart does… NEVER. I’m not a fan of either company, but they both have way too much buying power to simple drop of the face of the earth. Microsoft has been buying companies for decades to acquire the best technology.
Now, if anyone has a fighting chance at taking down Microsoft, it would be Google. They certainly have the capital to make it happen, but these companies don’t play ball on the same field. Google niche has been creating things that are innovative, easy to use and somewhat viral. I think they have a very similar focus to Apple. Microsoft on the other hand, calls themselves innovative, but let’s be honest, Microsoft Office 2007 is still the same thing it was in version 2000. They may have added a few features and changed how things work, but at the end of the day the program still does the same thing, the exact same way. Until someone figures out how to mainstream telekinesis or telepathy, modern society will still rely on popular software (like Microsoft products) to get things done. Sure there are open source products, but the big spenders in the technology market (large corporations) are not going to switch to Open Office anytime soon.
I’ll be the first to admit
that Vista and Windows 7 are pieces of poop. In my opinion, everything got worse after Windows 2000. Windows ME was a joke, XP was a pain in the ass when it first came out, but eventually became standard. Microsoft has complicated things so much with Windows Vista most corporations didn’t even have a meeting about including it for a corporate rollout. Again, this is just like Office. XP, Vista, and Windows 7 haven’t revolutionized the way a desktop OS works. They changed some things, added more “crap” to slow it down, and call it more secure.
So what makes Google’s Chrome OS such a knight in shinning armor? Have the revolutionized the way the desktop OS works? We all know it’s Linux based, and that’s fine. However, this goes back to my original post about Linux on the desktop. None of the big spenders are going to drop Windows (an OS with over a decade of existence) for Google Chrome. Sure you might get home users to switch, but that alone isn’t going to be the death of the Windows OS or Microsoft. ![]()
